Evaluation of Soil Fertility Status of Agro Ecological Zones of Kerala using Nutrient Index Approach

Background: Soil fertility evaluation is much imperative in order to sustain soil and also food grain production long run. A study was undertaken across five agro ecological zones of Kerala comprising nine districts viz., Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad Kannur with the aim evaluating status using nutrient index approach. Methods: sampling carried out GPS representing all Kerala. Field collect basic data. Based on calculation, samples were categorized low, medium high classes. Result: The analytical results revealed that class for organic carbon fall under major share analysed. Available N districts, except Kozhikode where it low category. However, available P content falls most samples. K category majority
